Mr. V. Jayaram is a post graduate in applied optics from Regional Engineering College, Warangal, A.P, India and founder of Prisms India Private, Limited. The project work undertaken during his study was on Holography and Interferometric Testing of Optical Components at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai. He started his career in an Optomechanics manufacturing company involved in the manufacture of optical mount & stages. In 1981 he switched over to a Chennai based marketing company dealing in optics related items manufactured outside India. Prior to incorporation of Prisms India in 1991, he served in various capacities in a lens manufacturing company for over 7 years. He has built Prisms India with simple conventional machines to produce Plano optics with high degree of tolerances. He is the pioneer in establishing optical contact technique in the production of prisms to less than 5 seconds accuracies. He has also established float polishing to achieve still higher degree of tolerances on flatness, size and angles. Additionally he has developed Optical Instruments (Autocollimator & Fizeau Interferometer). These Instruments are import substitutes that caters to the machine tool industry.
